1) Look for a Security Light (Immobilizer Light) in the car. You'll usually find the light in the instrument cluster on the dash, left or right of the steering wheel, or near the radio. Sometimes it can be located on the top of the dash, left, right, or center, near the windshield.

2) Have you ever tried getting a spare key at a local hardware store, and it turns the lock (ignition) but won't run the car? If so, your car is transponder equipped and you need an e-key programmed to your car so it will start.
3) Try wrapping the head of your key with tinfoil. Make sure you cover every bit of the head of your key. Then try to start your car. The tinfoil will act as a shield to the transponder chip, and block the antenna from "seeing" it. If you carry out this procedure correctly, and your car is transponder equipped, it won't start. It will either crank excessively, start, then quickly stall, or it will do nothing at all. Whichever scenario happens, do not try it more than once! You may throw your car into theft mode and then you'll really have to call us.
