Honda High Security Ignition Won’t Turn
 |
This has become the highest occurring ignition problem we've encountered. Honda came out with an HS keyway in 2002. The HS keyway is commonly described as the following:
Sidewinder, laser cut, 2-track and 4-track keys. The Honda has a 4-track HS keyway. Although there is no side bar in this lock, this poor designed is destined for failure. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the tumblers ride along each track. The problem is, the tumbler design. We refer to them as split wafers. They are small, frail and wear easily. The groove that the key rides along is even smaller. Once that wears, the wafer will hang up (not go back into its place) and the lock will no longer turn. This is a major repair, and happening more frequently on all HS Honda models. |
Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep Ignition Won’t Turn

With much similarity to the Ford Focus, the problem also lies with the side bar. Although there are many different models, the problem is the same. They all share the same ignition. The solution is also the same; replacing it with a non-side bar lock. You'll find this problem occurring on all models from 1998 to 2004. |
Ford Focus Ignition Won’t Turn
 |
The leading ignition failure! The Focus came out in 2000, and it came equipped with a side bar ignition. There lies the problem. When you insert a working key into the lock, the wafers go into their respective places and the side bar retracts, allowing the plug to turn. Once the side bar stops retracting, the ignition no longer turns, leaving you stuck. You'll find this notorious problem occurring in all Focuses from 2000 to 2004. We personally replaced well over 100 of these ignitions using non-side bar locks, ensuring the problem never occurs again. We guarantee it!
