Ekeys4cars was established to provide the car owner with an alternative source for transponder
keys. Many newer vehicles come equipped with electronic immobilizer systems, which require a key that contains a
transponder to function.
What are transponders and immobilizer systems?
When the Iron Curtain came down and the Cold War ended the Eastern Block countries gained a new freedom. Not only
did the good people of these counties shed the yoke of tyranny, but the criminal elements did as well. Many can remember
news stories of people waiting in line for basic staples like bread or toilet paper in these Communist countries. Well
they also had no access to motor vehicles. Now that there was free travel between the East and West the cars started to disappear East into the hands of an eager consumer. The insurance companies of the European Union used their influence to bring about imposition of regulations that required auto manufacturers to incorporate an electronic immobilizer into their vehicles sold in Europe.
These regulatory changes started to be incorporated in 1996 and continue today.
The system basically works like this. Today's cars all contain a computer of some degree, we'll call the Engine
Control Module (ECM). If your vehicle is transponder equipped, in the ECM there is room to store some quantity of digital
address' or digital identification codes, based on the make, model and year of the car. The digital address is an
alphanumeric number that is unique to each transponder chip. The car has an antenna in the area of the ignition that sends
out an electromagnetic field of energy that powers the transponder chip which in turn transmits it's identification code.
The antenna receives the code and sends it to the ECM for comparison. If the code is stored in the ECM the car will function
normally. If the code isn't stored or there's no code the car is immobilized by one of two methods. Either the engine
won't crank or fuel won't pump causing the car to stall.
These new security measures now stopped the thieves from "hot wiring" or breaking and forcing the ignitions.
The days of "Gone in 60 Seconds" are gone and the thieves have to resort to flatbedding which takes time, is noisy and is
traceable. Immobilizer systems together with the transponders have greatly improved the security of the motor vehicle and
are here to stay.
Now what about EKeys4Cars?
Up until now the technology to provide keys has been prohibitively expensive, if available, to after market
suppliers. The cost of the equipment was further multiplied by the fact that most of the transponder-equipped cars were
still under warrantee and the owners were returning to the manufacturer dealers. The lack of demand made it impossible for
an after market supplier to justify the expense of tooling up to supply transponders.
A combination of new technology and the increased numbers of transponder cars, now in the secondary market, have
made it economically feasible, for after market availability of transponder services. Not only can EKeys4Cars survive, but
also we have become a necessity for the motoring public. The number of drivers who need a spare key that can't be provided
by the local hardware store is growing daily and the demand can't be met by the dealers.
EKeys4Cars will get you in and out in a timely manner and offer a competitively economical service and product. You
won't have to leave your vehicle. Your new keys will be programmed in minutes while you wait in our clean comfortable
waiting area. There will be no upselling, just straight talk explanations of our services and products.
Remember if you need a transponder key, "We Have The Technology." Let us provide for all your transponder and
high security key needs.
